Just What Are The Physical Symptoms Of An Anxiety Attack
For anyone who has experienced an anxiety attack, they will quickly recognize the physical symptoms. Along with their breathing becoming heavier, they will sweat, suffer chest pains, they notice numbness in their extremities and they begin to shake uncontrollably. Some people may find that they only suffer a few of the physical symptoms of an anxiety attack, but others may find themselves having to deal with them all.
Someone who is suffering a panic attack may feel that they are having a heart attack or nervous breakdown. Because of this, some people call an ambulance and have themselves taken to a hospital. While this is not always necessary, it certainly can’t hurt to have the care of a professional to help you through the attack. If you suffer from severe anxiety, however, you may have already discovered some other ways to alleviate the symptoms.
It is believed that an anxiety attack is related to our bodies response to survive and not only do human suffer from this condition so do animals as well. It is this response that we have to certain situations which has ensured our survival. Normally such attacks will occur when the body is responding instinctively to a situation, but there is no apparent cause for it being triggered in the first place.
In studies carried out it has been shown that people who suffer from repeated attacks increase their chances of suffering either a heart attack or stroke in the future. But those who only suffer one attack and there is no history of any kind of anxiety disorder in their family are unlikely to suffer any heart problems or have to deal with any lasting effects.
What is not clear however is the risk posed to those who regularly suffer attacks. There are some doctors who will argue that even prescribed medications can lead to a person suffering some kind of heart problem. But no matter what an anxiety or panic attack is a clear mention from your body that things are not right and the issue need to be dealt with.
Actually dealing with an attack is not as easy as one would first imagine. Although you doctor may be able to treat the symptoms for you the underlying causes may need you to actually look at yourself more closely. There are various different types of therapy available which can help you deal with the stress that is being placed upon you. One of the effective of these is cognitive behavorial therapy, which helps people to learn ways to alter their reaction when they find themselves in certain stressful situations.
Other ways in which people work at helping to bring their attacks under control is through the use of deep breathing exercises or more advanced relaxation techniques. They will often use these in collaboration with either aromatherapy, massage therapy or acupuncture treatments. However, it is important to remember that when it comes to treating the physical symptoms of an anxiety attack is not just simply of a case of you trying to think positively or cheering yourself up.
Anxiety is a real medical condition and must be treated as such. Hopefully, with careful attention, anyone can beat the crippling effects of anxiety.
